The Story That Started a Movement — and Could Transform Yours

It all began with a woman named Helen Andelin, a devoted wife and mother who, like so many women, dreamed of a deep, lasting love with the man of her dreams. Though she and her husband Aubrey were happily married, she found herself longing for something more—a connection that touched the heart and soul, not just the day-to-day rhythm of life.

One day, in a moment of quiet vulnerability, Helen shared her feelings with a close friend, who handed her a set of old booklets from the 1920’s written for single girls that offered insights into femininity and love. Helen dove into them with hope, and what followed was nothing short of transformational. Almost immediately, she saw a shift in her marriage. Aubrey responded with renewed tenderness, and the love between them deepened into something beautiful.

Moved by how much it helped her own life, Helen felt she had to share what she’d learned.

It started with a small group of women in her living room, but it quickly grew—soon she was teaching full classes in local churches. Women were eager to learn more and kept asking her to put it all into a book for married women. So Helen expanded on her original ideas, adding personal lessons from her own marriage and her experience as a mother of eight. The result was Fascinating Womanhood, a book that would go on to sell millions and touch lives around the world. Despite publishing challenges, Helen and Aubrey boldly printed the first batch themselves, stacking thousands of books in their garage. They didn’t just start a movement—they grew it step by step, book by book.

Helen went on to teach thousands of women, train teachers around the world, appear on national television, and launch a full program rooted in helping women rediscover their femininity and transform their marriages.

That legacy didn’t end with Helen.

Her daughter, Dixie Andelin Forsyth, has lovingly carried it into the modern era. With a fresh voice and deep respect for her mother’s teachings, Dixie has not only updated the original Fascinating Womanhood for today’s women, but also written her own powerful book, Fascinating Womanhood for the Timeless Woman. Written during her own joyful and inspiring 50-year marriage to her husband, Bob, the book reflects a life built on love, purpose, and unwavering belief in the power of femininity.

Together, Dixie and Bob raised seven children and have continued spreading the message of Fascinating Womanhood across the globe. Through books, masterclasses and social media, they are reaching a new generation of women from every culture and walk of life—offering them tools to create the same kind of enduring love and happiness Helen once longed for.

  • Fascinating Womanhood began as a Christian women’s movement. For a time, Bible verses were added so it could be taught in churches, starting with the first book printing in 1963. Later, after Helen Andelin visited Japan, she realized the book needed to be more inclusive and relatable to people of different faiths. Revisions were made, and by 2017 the movement returned to a broader approach. Fascinating Womanhood is now a global organization welcoming all cultures and beliefs. While we sometimes speak about faith in a higher power and have released a book specifically for Christian based readers, we do not promote any specific religion.
